ES to Mouse Service — Costs
The Australian Phenomics Network incorporates a core service for the generation and distribution of heterozygote mice from frozen gene trap ES cell lines imported from the International Gene Trap Consortium (IGTC). The facility is located at Monash Institute of Medical Research and includes capabilities in molecular biology, tissue culture, embryology and animal husbandry. The scientists in the facility have several years experience in producing genetically modified mice, providing excellent expertise for this operation.
What is included in the service:
- Ordering and importation of the gene trap ES cell lines
- Confirmation and karyotyping of gene trapped clones
- Microinjection of gene trap clones into blastocysts
- Generation of chimeric mice
- Breeding chimeras to obtain germ line transmission of the gene trap mutation
- Generation and delivery of a heterozygote mouse
Information Required
- the cell line ID number as found on the IGTC website www.genetrap.org
- animal ethics and IBC/OGTR approval from the client*
*We have animal ethics approval and IBC approval only for the work done to the heterozygote state. Furthermore, this approval is conditional on obtaining specific animal ethics approval from the client prior to distribution of the heterozygote mouse.
Cost structure*
| Initiation Fee (payable upon initiation of the project) | $5,000 |
| Milestone 1 – Generation of chimeric mouse | $5,000 |
| Milestone 2 – Generation of heterozygote mouse | $5,000 |
| Total | $15,000 |

*Prices are subject to variation without notice.
When the project is initiated the client is required to provide a purchase requisition so that the initiation fee and subsequent milestone fees (as they are achieved) can be paid. Milestone fees will be charged only after the client is satisfied that the milestone has been achieved.
